There's a first time for everything, and that includes eating a greasy dippy egg for breakfast -- with chopsticks.
It went well .....
So we went for a walk in the park nearby, it has a long trail that follows a river, and I'm sure will look much prettier once all the flowers start blooming.
See the "sunflowers" along the path? They are the lights, and the flower part is a solar panel.
Jane explained to me that women here are quite concerned with keeping their skin white and free from sun damage. Thus they wear big visors and paper masks to cover their faces when they're out. And actually, most of the women we passed had that on. I didn't get a pic, but its as startling as you imagine it would be.
We also spotted some of our sisters in the ministry, you can always tell when two modestly-dressed ladies with bags are strolling through. We stopped and said hello.
And after I took an afternoon nap, I went with Jane to her evening English lesson, with a young girl. We went to a bookstore and helped her read a little bit, and only spoke in English. Her favorite subject? B.A.P - her favorite Kpop band.
I had a sweet potato latte. Yep, it tastes just like it sounds. It was good, different. I don't think I want another one.
Next we walked through Gangnam station! Its the subway station, but its a whole new crowd of people and little stores under the street. It was crazy.
I've learned how to recognize some Korea writing. I can pick out Gangnam. You can see it on the sign in this photo. The "7" followed by the "sideways T" makes the sound "ga", and if there is a circle underneath it sounds like "gang". Next we see a different consonant "L" with the same vowel "sideways T", so that sounds like "na", but it has the squared circle so it is now "nam".
My sleep schedule is obviously still off, I'm wide awake by 6 am and falling asleep by 9 pm. After that point of the night I'm liable to sleep anywhere, at the table, on the bus, even a couch in the street.
Don't worry, its actually Jane's futon, we carried it a block away to an older lady from the congregation. She has a spare room, so she let me use it. I'll be sleeping there for the rest of the week.
I enjoyed the Korean lesson....n want a sweet potato latte tooooo hehe!
